4 Tricks to Keep Your Thermostat, You & Your Home Happy

4 Tricks to Keep Your Thermostat, You & Your Home Happy

Your programmable thermostat is happy when your home is happy….And you’ll be happy when your energy bills drop.

When the weather gets cold, we crank up the heat and significantly increase our energy bill.

Here’s 4 simple tricks to keep you and your thermostat happy, and keep your house warm and cozy:

1.Close the Gaps
A house with too many holes is certain to be drafty.  As a result, the heating system drives too hard to keep the house warm.  All those leaky holes in doors and windows are allowing the cold air to come inside.  You can either close all those gaps yourself using weather-stripping, or call a professional to close all the gaps and holes around the house. Either way, you and your home will be much happier.

2.Invest In a humidifier
Winters are notorious for drying the moisture in the air and that can lead to an extremely uncomfortable home.  Using a humidifier will not only correct the humidity levels in the house, but it will also bring in additional warmth and put less strain on your heating system, and in turn lower your energy bills.  You and your thermostat would be more than happy too.

3.Unblock the Vents
Your home may not be heating the way it should because your vents are blocked.  Most don’t realize but placing something right in front of the vents drastically affects the quality of heating and cooling.   You’ll end up cranking the system higher and rendering your thermostat useless. Just remove all obstructions from in front of the vents and let the cool or hot air move freely.

4.Place Wool Rugs on the floor
Two good reasons why placing wool rugs on the floor will make your thermostat happy.  For one, wool rugs are warmer than tiles and marble floors. Secondly, they are excellent insulators.  Plus, walking on wool rugs can feel real nice in the winter.

These 4 tricks can keep your thermostat, You and your home happy and even help you control your energy bills.
